New FPGA, U-Boot, and Linux image for the TS-7180
Dear Valued Customer,
We are contacting you today to notify you of software updates available for the TS-7180 and a change in shipping software. A new FPGA, U-Boot, and Linux image are shipping on new orders effective immediately.
The FPGA revision 17 implements the DIO Fault circuit breaker. This will turn off all of the low side switches in the event that they exceed 1.25A of current. More details can be found here. This FPGA also improves the 32 kHz accuracy to address some very rare Bluetooth startup issues.
The Aug 05 2024 U-Boot release converts our custom boot scripts to follow U-Boot's distroboot startup sequence. This is supported on our latest images, and has documentation both in our manual and in U-Boot. This U-Boot release with distroboot requires bootable images to have a boot script like those found on our newer images in /boot/boot.scr. If your existing TS-7180 disk image does not have this /boot.scr, this can be downloaded here, and copied to /boot/boot.scr.
The TS-7180 is now also shipping with Debian 12 using this image. This Debian release will provide security updates until at least 2026. This also moves to our 5.10 LTS kernel from the 4.9 release, which is no longer receiving updates.
We would also like to announce that support for the TS-7180 was recently was added to our latest LTS 6.6 kernel. This linux-6.6 kernel will also provide security updates until December 2026. We are planning to transition the TS-7180 to ship with the LTS 6.6 kernel in the near future.

At this time, there are no further changes planned for the U-Boot or the FPGA before the TS-7180 leaves engineering sampling. Before exiting the engineering sampling program, we do expect additional Debian image updates both to include the 6.6 kernel, and to complete the TS-SILO support.
We at embeddedTS appreciate your business. If you have further questions or concerns, please contact us by either replying to this email or by filling out the "Contact Us" form at support.embeddedts.com.
