Dear Valued Customer,

This notice is regarding a GPS Module Change on the TS-7670 and TS-7180 being made by embeddedTS. The affected products are transitioning from the original Telit SL869 GPS module, which has reached End of Life (EOL), to the newer Telit SL869LV2 module. This change is being made to help ensure long-term product availability and support. For most customers, no action is expected. Most applications are expected to continue operating without software changes, with hardware performance remaining the same or improving.

The affected products are: TS-7180, TS-7670

The new Telit SL869LV2 module is designed as a direct replacement for the original SL869. The module’s standard GPS commands and output messages remain unchanged, so most application software is expected to continue operating as-is without software changes. Customers who use manufacturer-specific GPS configuration commands should review their software, as the newer SL869LV2 uses a different proprietary command set than the original SL869. 

The SL869LV2 also includes updated antenna-support circuitry, which may improve compatibility with passive GNSS antenna designs. Existing active antenna configurations continue to be supported.

embeddedTS has completed validation testing to confirm compatibility and performance across supported platforms. We have also confirmed with Telit that this replacement module provides the longest available lifecycle support for this GPS module footprint. This change will be phased in starting immediately.
