Dear Valued Customer,

We at embeddedTS are contacting you today to let you know there has been a New Relay Qualified on TS-7553-V2 and Impacts to TS-ENC820-HMI. This change will phase in immediately on new production builds and has no impact on functionality, software, or electrical performance of the affected products.

The affected products are: TS-7553-V2

In order to continue supporting a long life cycle on the above products, embeddedTS has qualified a new relay from Omron to replace the previously used device from TE Connectivity, which has reached End-of-Life (EOL) status. The newly qualified relay is electrically equivalent to the original component, including coil voltage, coil power draw, contact configuration, while providing higher contact power ratings.

Customers should be aware of two minor differences. 

1. The Underwriters Laboratories (UL) marking on the relay will reflect the Omron registration rather than the previous supplier. 
2. The Omron relay has a slightly increased overall height. The new component remains shorter than the adjacent supercapacitors and is the same height as the highest point of the nearby USB connector. While embeddedTS anticipates sufficient clearance in most applications, customers with tight vertical space constraints in their enclosure design are encouraged to contact us to verify details.

The embeddedTS LCD enclosure, TS-ENC820-HMI, is affected by this change because the LCD assembly has historically pressed against the USB connector. To address this interference, a small gasket material will be added around the inside edge of the enclosure. This gasket is not expected to be noticeable externally, and the resulting enclosure height increase of approximately 0.7 mm should not impact end applications.

This transition is part of embeddedTS’s continual improvement methodology, through which we strive to deliver high-quality products while maintaining long-term component availability for our customers. Some existing inventory may still contain the previous relay until stock is depleted, after which all shipments will include the newly qualified component.
