We have been notifying customers on an order by order basis when a substitution is being applied, but based on the stability of the solution at this time we will be proceeding with various substitution solutions on a permanent basis. We will not be indicating this change with a BOM revision, there will be no changes necessary to your software or hardware.

The System Monitor MCU provides a variety of low level hardware monitoring and control support on this product. The MCU is manufactured by Silicon Labs who has not been able to keep up with manufacturing demand on most of their product families. However, we were able to find a footprint compatible Silicon Labs solution in stock—a component we are confident will provide you a high quality drop in solution and we are offering you this material as an expedite option.
The alternate part comes from a different Silicon Labs product family and will require the embeddedTS team to complete some software changes to the factory loaded firmware. This alternate firmware will be unique to this particular alternate part and will only be used in builds using this alternate part. embeddedTS has been shipping this drop-in solution with no negative impact to affected customers over the past nine months. We have ensured that the result is fully operational for all features of the product and transparent to all application and kernel software. There will be no changes necessary to your software or hardware.
We at embeddedTS appreciate your business. If you have further questions or concerns, please contact us by either replying to this email or by filling out the "Contact Us" form at support.embeddedts.com.
