Dear Valued Customer,

We are contacting you today to inform you of the Supervisory Microcontroller Update on TS-7100 & TS-7180 Platforms from embeddedTS. These platforms now include an updated firmware revision for the supervisory microcontroller that corrects a rare issue when using the USB console interface. This change is fully transparent to users and has no affect on system operation.

The affected products are: TS-7100-Z, TS-7180

The updated microcontroller firmware resolves a rare scenario in the code with the USB virtual console. This condition can only occur under a very specific set of circumstances:  if 1) the platform is connected to a host system via USB console, 2) the host sends the platform a USB suspend packet (e.g. the host enters a suspend-to-RAM state), and 3) the platform also enters its own sleep state while the host remains connected via a USB cable. In this case, there is a rare chance for unsent USB data to remain buffered in the supervisory microcontroller when entering sleep mode, causing the library to stall while waiting to transmit packets that can never complete.

Refer to the platforms respective user manual to determine the microcontroller firmware revision with these fixes.

This update is already being applied to all newly shipping units. Customers whose deployments use console in the field application should contact support for further assistance.
