We are contacting you today to inform you of an Ethernet Jack Metal Shielding Change on a product you've purchased from embeddedTS. This change will phase into products over the next 12 months.
The affected products are: TS-7395, TS-7500, TS-7520, TS-7520-BOX, TS-7550, TS-7552, TS-7553, TS-7553-V2, TS-7558, TS-7558-BOX, TS-7580-BOX, TS-7600, TS-7670, TS-7680, TS-7700, TS-TPC-7395
The manufacturer of the Ethernet jack used on our products has switched to a new supplier of metal shielding (the original supplier of the shielding went out of business). The shielding change is primarily visual. The new part does not have metal spring tabs on the sides of the shield, and retains them on the component’s top. Additionally, markings etched in to the top side of the metal shield have changed.
Our testing has verified the electrical characteristics to be exactly the same in the old and new part. The new part retains the same external dimensions and fits in all of our product enclosures. Network performance and behavior of the different parts is identical and consistent across all affected products. The spring tabs on top of the new part will make electrical contact to any custom metal housings for the above products.
